Falls in house prices are becoming more widespread and lending to first-time buyers is stagnant, according to figures that will add to fears about the state of the housing market.
House prices fell for the second month in row last month and afflicted all parts of the country except Scotland, a closely watched report by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors showed.
