C algary housing prices soared by 198 per cent between 1997 and 2007 and that steep hike displays all the hallmarks of "an accident waiting to happen," says a new report released Tuesday.
"The hottest six real estate markets (in Canada, including Calgary) could be in for a correction at best or, at worst, a bubble burst," said David Macdonald, research associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and author of the report, Canada's Housing Bubble: An Accident Waiting to Happen.
